Agura Transition Sequence
In this shibari tutorial, Bänana teaches an Agura Transition Sequence with her model Marion.
It’s a common misconception to think that suspension transition sequences have to be fast-moving, dynamic and energetic, which – if you prefer a slower, more deliberate pace when tying – can make them feel quite daunting. This, Bänana explains, was her own concern, until she started trying more transition sequences and discovered that taking a calmer, less hurried and more meticulous approach can be a good thing! Using a three-rope Agura Tie and a three-rope TK, Bänana demonstrates a shibari suspension sequence that progresses from an inverted torsion to a gyaku ebi position, before being inverted and compacted for a final ebi shape.
As Bänana emphasizes in the Conclusion video, it’s not about recreating the tie exactly step by step but rather about always thinking about the next step or position. It’s important to be precise, she explains, with a reminder that feedback from the person being tied can be very valuable tool for refining your tying in these challenging yet rewarding sequences.
This class is suitable for advanced practitioners with ample suspension experience recommended for both rigger and model. Always remember to keep your skill set in mind when applying techniques from any Shibari Study class to your own rope practice.
