Dancing with Uplines
Part of Rebound Week! This session is making a special return until September 28.
Who needs a dance partner when you have uplines?
Class type: Tie-along
Duration: 45 minutes
Props: 3 hanks of rope, safety shears
Level: Intermediate
In this self-tying class, Burgundy Rose offers their insights for getting creative with gravity and uplines. Explore locking the body with minimal rope and moving with and around your uplines as if in a dance.
This class is appropriate for self-tyers whose skill set includes a single-column tie (preferably a Somerville bowline) and confidence with rope handling. Basic knowledge of how uplines work is advantageous but not necessary as this will be taught.

Thank you for this class. It felt great to practice restraint and push against it. I closed my eyes, tuned into my body, and was truly felt its limits. In the end it was also a wonderful stretch. I can’t recall the last time my shoulders and upper back felt so open.

I loved the class, gotta try that! :) But I have one question: You mention another rope practitioner who also uses this technique of dancing with uplines. I'd like to look their work up, but couldn't quite get his/her name. Could you put it in the text/comment section maybe? Thanks! And again: Absolutely loved it, will bring it to my local rope jam tonight :)

Hey! So glad you liked the class. This is the website for Nicolas, who has done a lot of pioneering around this style of tying!
