Duality Sequence
In this shibari tutorial, Lief and Icky teach their Duality Sequence, an advanced rope suspension sequence that “takes a shape and turns it on its head”.
Using a TK, their version of the Booty Basket and a calf-binder, Lief and Icky demonstrate this progressive suspension flow that starts out with a torturous tippy-toes stand-up position and ends in a beautiful, inverted position. During the course of their step-by-step explanation, they explain their decision-making, including tying on a ring rather than bamboo, detail important safety considerations, and offer ideas for other shapes and transitions you can explore. As they explain, there are several variations of this challenging sequence that you can continue and grow with – what’s key is identifying what works for you and what doesn’t, and adapting from there.
This demanding sequence is aimed at riggers and bottoms with plenty of suspension experience. Always remember to keep your skill set in mind when applying techniques from any Shibari Study class to your own rope practice.
