Ebi-Zeme Variation
In this class, Gestalta teaches a floor-based variation of Agura & Ebi Shibari with their model Aleks.
Modern Shibari refers to any crossed-leg sitting position as Agura Shibari. If the upper body is tied and forced close to the open legs, it is called Ebi Shibari (shrimp tie) or Ebi Seme (shrimp torment). The body being bent forward and the knees widely spread, the position resembles the body and tail of a prawn or shrimp.
Gestalta revisits this classic position inspired by an ancient method of torture, ebi-zeme (海老責め).
If kept for a long period of time, this position will heavily restrict the breathing and generate strong blood flow restrictions creating a burning sensation throughout the entire body. The increased stress created by the variations of leg position she explains and demonstrates in this class will make the effect significantly more immediate and efficient on flexible models.
