First Partials: Wrist Cuffs
In this shibari course, TrueBlue and Margherita explore tying the wrists overhead, sharing both a step-by-step tutorial and a demonstration session for one of the first partial suspensions you may learn.
Partial suspensions – ties where part of the body is elevated by rope while other parts remain on the floor – are where you lay the groundwork for exploring suspension in ropes. Or whatever the opposite of groundwork is… It’s here that your rope practice takes flight, which is why it’s so important to get your first partials right. In this class, TrueBlue and Margherita discuss techniques for tying, lifting and loading the wrists as well as your options for locking off. They also offer important safety considerations for tying this sensitive part of the body. As Blue explains, by the time you utilize this tie in play, you should be well practiced in applying, creating uplines and locking them off as well as releasing and untying smoothly and efficiently.
In the first video, you’ll learn how to apply the wrist cuffs as well as load and lock off your upline.
In the second video, TrueBlue and Margherita demo this partial suspension in action, not as a tie-along but to inspire your own explorations.
This partial suspensions-focused course is aimed at intermediate learners who have spent time exploring rope and tension on the body and understand the circulation and nerve risks involved with beginning to play with suspensions.
