    Thanks, it's indeed very simple and quick to apply. Is there any reason, not to use a larks head instead of a single column tie to start with? I find it even faster and easier to apply similar tension in the lower and upper wraps.

      Sure! If you like using a larks head to start, you could absolutely do that. Make sure to build the wrap with two passes of rope (four pieces of rope total). And be sure to lock off (you’ll probably do this with a half hitch) before continuing to the upper wrap.
