Hojo Cuff Deep Dive

Fuoco

In this shibari course, Fuoco takes a deep dive into the Hojo Cuff with her model Cat.

Hojo cuffs are simply inline single-column ties held together with tension that runs in and tension that runs out, and they can be an incredibly versatile tool to help us avoid unnecessary over-construction of ties. However, to use them effectively, we have to understand how they work and what elements are needed to create bondage that is stable, snug and sustainable. As Fuoco explains, she loves using hojo cuffs for drills and as a learning tool because of what they can teach us about how bodies move and where we can find opportunities to let the fiddly parts of patterns fall away. And whether you’re just learning the ins and outs of hojo cuffs or looking to level up when and how you use them, this course offers something for everybody.

In the first video, you’ll learn what a hojo cuff is with a basic example demonstrating what to keep in mind when tying them and where you might slip up while you’re still getting the hang of them.

In the second video, Fuoco explains the concept of internal tension in the body and how this can be utilized to create more effective and robust hojo cuffs.

The final two videos offer first a lower body challenge and then an upper body challenge. Once you have a confident grasp on the techniques and concepts taught in the first half of the course, these freeform exercises will help you get more creative with your hojo cuff application and realize the (almost) endless possibilities that they offer.
