Kinoko’s Fuse Ebi Tie

Hajime Kinoko

In this shibari tutorial, Kinoko teaches his Fuse Ebi Tie (‘face-down shrimp’ tie) with his model hua hua.

As Kinoko explains, one of the challenges shibari students often encounter in the jump from learning harnesses on the floor to learning how to suspend them is how to maintain balance between left and right. Using Kinoko’s Updated TK3 as a starting point, begin to perfect finding balance in your ties with this floor-based hogtie that uses the body against itself to create some of the same challenges that bottoms will encounter in suspensions. The Fuse Ebi is a tie that demands an equal shape and precise uniform tension on both sides, plus being floor-based, is more sustainable for the person being tied – in short, the perfect tie to practice creating balance before moving on to suspensions. And with its exposing spread-legged position and sustainability making it ideal for foreplay or abandonment play, you might just be able to think of a few other applications for it too…

This class is suitable for intermediate levels and beyond. Always remember to keep your skill set in mind when applying techniques from any Shibari Study class to your own rope practice.
