Kinoko’s Maete Harness

In this shibari course, Kinoko teaches the suspendable Maete harness with his model hua hua.

While behind-the-back box-ties and variations on the TK may be the more traditional options for a suspendable harness, placing the hands in front of the body can make for greater comfort and sustainability. Kinoko’s Maete tie offers a hands-front harness built for face-up suspensions with plenty of supportive wraps in the back and a stable and sturdy structure in the point for attaching your suspension line.

In the first class, Kinoko offers a step-by-step demonstration for how to tie the Maete harness.

In the second class, you’ll learn how to add a hip harness that will offer even more stability in the suspension to follow.

In the final class, Kinoko demonstrates how to suspend the tie, explaining how certain lines can be raised or lowered based on your model’s needs to increase sustainability.

This course is great for expanding your harness repertoire and for learners looking for alternative to TKs. However, please keep your skill set in mind when applying techniques from these classes and only use this harness in suspension if that is already a part of your rope practice.
