Microbondage

Anoxia

In this shibari course, Anoxia delves into the minutia of Microbondage with their model fuoco.

What is this, bondage for ants? No, it’s microbondage, the shibari technique dedicated to tying smaller, delicate structures, such as fingers, toes and faces. As Anoxia explains, there are many reasons to tie on this tiny scale. Whether it’s a greater sense of completion as you get to these final details, creating a stronger sense of immobilization, playing with highly sensitive parts of the body or intentionally amplifying certain emotions in a tie, microbondage is a little guy with an outsized impact. In this class series, you will learn two different microbondage techniques as well as tips for safer, smarter tying.

Safety first! Because microbondage focuses on parts of the body that may be more susceptible to injury if tied improperly, the first part of this course is all about important safety considerations. In this class, Anoxia details the risks of microbondage as well as tips for how to mitigate some of these risks.

In videos that follow, Anoxia teaches two approaches to microbondage: through stretch and through pinning. As well as demonstrating how to do each, they also explain when stretch may be more appropriate and when pinning may be more appropriate. Imperative always? Slowing down and bringing awareness to being extra attentive.

This course is appropriate for anyone who already feels confident tying on the macro level (think harnesses, arm binders, leg ties and floor play) and feels ready to zoom in a little. Bottoms should have good body awareness, and clear communication on both sides of the rope is essential.
