Self-Tied Butterfly Harness
In this class, Anna Bones teaches a self-tying version of Shibari Study’s all-time most popular harness, the Butterfly Harness!
With over 1,500 hours of viewing time, the Butterfly Harness checks all the boxes: it’s multifunctional, aesthetically beautiful, comfortable to suspend in and suitable as a sustainable base for more complex – or torturous – ties. Plus, perhaps best of all, this arms-free pattern is entirely possible to self-tie!
While many students have successfully adapted this tie over the years, now – for the first time ever – the Butterfly Harness is being taught specifically for solo tying with plenty of valuable tips and tricks to upgrade your self-tying game.

What length of rope is used for this?

Cassondra Evans The length used here is 8m, but you might find that that's not enough or too long depending on your body type. We recommend trying the tie with different lengths of rope to see what works best for you!

I asked because I was using an 8m and ran out of rope early into the tutorial, and couldn't find a length reference anywhere. Are you able to find out what was used in this one?

ShibariStudyJanuary 24, 2024
Hi there, most instructors use an eight-meter long rope in our tutorials, unless there's a specific mention of a different length.

I can't even express how grateful I am for an adaptation to this harness for self-tying!
