Solo And Partnered Stretching

Ms. Reemah

In this body conditioning for shibari tutorial, Ms Reemah and her model Lavender demonstrate a series of solo and assisted stretching exercises.

It’s time to set aside your ropes and explore an entirely different take on ‘working out the kinks’ with two stretching tutorials designed for before and after your rope sessions. As Ms Reemah explains, while there’s no such thing as risk-free shibari, proper stretching and body care can help mitigate some of the physical risks of the practice and even help you connect more deeply with your tying partner (or yourself). With one class focused on solo stretching for riggers and one on partnered stretching for bottoms, giving care and attention to the muscle groups most used in rope can become an integral part of your scenes.

In the first class, Ms Reemah discusses the often-overlooked topic of stretching and conditioning for riggers. Offering examples of stretches she likes to do before and after rope sessions, she focuses on the hands, fingers and wrists, and – for safer lifting – the hips, legs and thighs.

In the second class, Ms Reemah and Lavender demonstrate how stretching can be incorporated into aftercare after your rope sessions. As well as gently addressing any body strain or tension that may have arisen maintaining challenging positions, this is an opportunity for rope partners to reconnect and decompress together post-play.

This shibari tutorial course is appropriate for all levels. As Ms Reemah advises, do what your body can do – these exercises are not intended to be followed exactly but rather to give you an idea of how to target some areas frequently employed in rope. Each body is different, so meet yours where it’s at mindfully in order to avoid injury.

Very helpful!  I had never really given stretching much thought or attention actually.
