Study On Falling
In this shibari tutorial, Gorgone will be teaching their ‘Study on Falling’ suspension sequence with their model Vivian.
One of Gorgone’s favorite suspension sequences, they have performed it extensively over the years and now, for the first time ever, will be teaching it on Shibari Study.
Gorgone designed this sequence as a way to surrender to the experience of extreme vulnerability, letting go and “falling” into the rope. As they explain in the class intro, while this may not be too complicated to tie for the rigger, it is a very intense sequence for the person being tied and carries a higher risk profile due to the last position in particular – a single-point waist rope suspension dropping into a fairly extreme backbend shape. As such, it’s essential to go through it slowly, with confidence and with no resistance in the body of the person being tied.
As a suspension sequence that is both physically demanding and at-times psychologically challenging, the class offers insights into ways in which to make it more manageable for the person being tied, such as starting out with a hands-free chest harness to allow the model more control, as well as Gorgone’s tips for how to reassure yourself and your tying partner as you move through this exquisite and powerful progression. They also offer essential advice for warming up beforehand and getting accustomed to the sensation of dropping into the single waist line.
This class is aimed at advanced students with plenty of suspension experience only. Please watch the videos in full, familiarize yourself with the sequence and do not push yourself if you feel any uncertainty or resistance, particularly going into the last position.
