Suspension Challenge: Duality Sequence

Fuoco

This playlist is part of our Rope Resolutions challenge to help make 2026 your knottiest year yet, so practice regularly this January to earn your streaks and win a prize. Find all of the details in our Community!

Experience prerequisites: You need plenty of suspension experience for this one. Don't work through the whole sequence until you've labbed each harness (bottom and top) and can tie each harness from memory without referencing the videos.

This playlist is a follow-along suspension sequence that’s ideal for exploring different shapes and transitions as well as gaining experience adapting the tie to better suit your needs each time you try it. We’ve collected all of the harnesses you’ll need to follow along, including a couple of box ties for you to lab and pick from. If you have a box tie you like, you can of course use it. You could also try this out with an arms-front harness or other upper body harness. The final position is a heavy torsion that will definitely behave differently from one harness to another. Very rarely do we get to just learn and copy a sequence out of the box – almost all learning at this level requires some labbing and adaptation and some of what you’ll learn in this playlist is to think critically about what the impact might be of any adaptations you make.

Heads up: Just as you learn the steps of tying a harness in order through repetition and mimicry before you start to make changes, it can be helpful to learn whole sequences this way too before making them your own. So try to start with minimally impactful changes as you get comfortable, but feel free to eventually take detours and make this sequence your own!
