Tanuki Tsuri

Gestalta

In this class, Gestalta teaches a Tanuki Tsuri ("racoon suspension") with their model Olivia.

Minimalistic and challenging on the body, the focus of this advanced tie is on acrobatic prowess and dynamic movement. The transition from face-up (forward fold) to face-down (backbend) is very impressive and may be an interesting exercise for experienced models who enjoy intense proactive bottoming experiences. It will challenge their proprioception and autonomous body coordination in the rope. If you enjoy playing with ties that test both flexibility and stamina, this one is for you! However, as this tie requires a high level of flexibility and resilience from the bottom, it should not be attempted with inexperienced partners.

As Gestalta explains, this tie is intended to be short-lived and should only be suspended with a pulley in order to lift and lower the body swiftly and smoothly, relieving pressure on the wrists as fast and regularly as needed.

We highly recommend negotiating practicing this strenuous tie very carefully and thoroughly to ensure everyone understands that the risks of injury are higher with this suspension. The main risks associated with this tie are nerve compression on the wrists and back/shoulder injury during the transition from the face-up position into a fairly extreme backbend. This class is aimed at advanced riggers and bottoms alike.
