Ankle Ties

Gorgone

In this shibari tutorial, Gorgone teaches the ins and outs of ankle ties, from important considerations to get started all the way to a single ankle suspension.

Ankles are extremely delicate, meaning tying them improperly can fast become painful to the point of untying. In this series of ankle tie-focused classes, Gorgone covers techniques and applications that can make these sometimes-intimidating ties easier, safer and more sustainable.

The first class of this four-part series lays the groundwork for further exploring loading the ankles with useful advice for figuring out where pressure on the ankle may be less or more tolerable based on the anatomy of the person being tied.

In the second class, Gorgone details important preparations and adjustments that can be made before loading the tie.

The third-class is a more bottom-focused exploration of ankle ties, and looks at how the person being tied can actively influence their comfort in these ties and reduce pressure on this sensitive part of the body.

Finally, using all the information shared in the first three classes, the fourth class demonstrates a more sustainable, more beautiful and more comfortable single ankle suspension. (Please note: this suspension is categorically not recommended for self-suspension – only try inversions such as this with someone on hand to assist.)

While aspects of this course may be applicable from an intermediate level on, the single-ankle suspension is recommended for advanced practitioners with plenty of suspension experience only. Please always exercise caution when attempting this tie.
