One Rope Agura
In this tutorial, Ropunawa teaches a suspendable one-rope cross-legged tie (Agura) with his partner and model Freya.
This minimalist cross-legged tie, which is highly inspired by Yagami Ren, makes the most out of one 8-meter rope to explore one of shibari’s most traditional – and, for many models, accessible – shapes. The tie can also be elevated off the floor for added intensity.
Don’t let the single rope fool you either. For advanced rope bondage practitioners, ‘stripping down’ your practice can open up new ways to play and explore. As Ropunawa explains, it’s a concept that even after many years of tying can show you that there’s still so much more to learn and discover.

Can this safely be used for suspension with feet on top of - instead of underneath - the legs? If not, is there a modification that might enable that?

That's an interesting question. We don't currently have a tutorial for that specific position, but we always encourage people to think of shibari like Lego: lots of building blocks to be assembled and reassembled creatively. This specific harness is very minimal, and so we would recommend experimenting first with a more structural agura harness. We would also recommend only trying this with a bottom who is extremely comfortable with their legs crossed and feet on top. Finally, if you're not already a part of our discord community, that's a great place to share ideas with other rope enthusiasts who might be able to help your exploration.
