In this shibari performance, Ms Reemah and Anansi share a captivating tying session that showcases the collaborative side of a challenging scene.

It’s said that you never have the same experience in rope twice, and there’s no better example of this maxim than Ms Reemah and Anansi’s mesmerizing suspension performance. Strenuous from the get-go with a gag and face rope, the performance video instantly demonstrates the essential softer side of “mean” rope: checking in as praxis, making adjustments as needed, and problem-solving on the fly. The result is a scene as characterized by care and collaboration as it is by intense shapes and transitions (and yes, just a little evil waist rope too).

The performance is followed by an insightful debrief discussion between the tying partners discussing their experiences of the session.
