Simple Pyramid Tie
In this step-by-step shibari class, Fred Hatt teaches a basic version of his predicament tie, the Pyramid Tie, with his model Briki.
Predicament ties are Fred’s favourite form of rope play. Endurance, impossible choices, and playing with his bottom’s headspace are the key ingredients in the equation. In this class, Fred teaches a simple form of his Pyramid Tie. This tie is a perfect entry point to predicament play, using only simple knots while conveying clearly the concept of threat versus effort in a tie.
While offering a follow-along explanation of how to tie the Pyramid Tie, Fred also shares detailed explanations about balance, body mechanics and build-up (of ties and endorphins) for both riggers and rope bottoms.
This tie requires a suspension point and is suitable for intermediate levels and beyond. This tie can be difficult to achieve without good knowledge of the body and in this form of play rigger and model are working ‘against’ each other rather than with each other, so it becomes important to recognise ways in which the model can ‘cheat’ while always paying extreme attention to detail and body cues to keep the bottom safe.
