Bottom-Focused TK Lab
In this three-part course, Fuoco gives out some very valuable information about rope and body mechanics for tying a TK.
She aims to explain the anatomical considerations for TK that could serve as a starting point as you work through finding the best harness for your body. You'll find a discussion of which different styles of TK are most indicated by different anatomically informed preferences. Finally, watch through several discussions with a variety of bottoms, all of whom have different priorities for a TK harness.
We recommend watching the "All About Shoulders" videos, found in the Body Awareness 101 series, before diving into this material.

I have quite extreme hypermobility in my shoulders and I have found the high hands V shaped to be the worst thing for me (seems to pinch nerves in my shoulder blade as soon as weight is on the hardness, plus pressing into the wrist nerves too much) and causing the most issues, though a lot of riggers are resistant to using the T shape on me because of the mobility even though I haven't really had issues with that style and kind of like being able to adjust my wrists and shoulders when I need to. Is there a way to create more stability in a T shaped one without the internal rotation or is it just about additional tension?Show replies (3)

Shibari Study I just read this comment, but can't find the All About Shoulders class. Has it been released yet? Did I miss it?

You can add extra stability in a T shaped TK by actively pulling your own shoulders backwards (thinking about 'knitting' your shoulder blades together in the back) and slightly shortening the stem. A tight upper wrap will contribute to keeping the position of your body stable without you having to hold yourself! You will find a lot of useful information about shoulders and what sort of internal variations and positional explorations might suit you in the upcoming 'All About Shoulders' class that we will release soon!
